Karen Bolton

Visual Arts

Karen Bolton is a 3D artist and art instructor. She has many years of experience designing and implementing public and community art projects. Her ceramic works, which includes architectural ceramics, can be seen on buildings and in public places across the United States and in Europe.

Karen’s work is multimodal as she utilizes different ceramic processes such as drawing on tilework, and hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. In her work for public and private entities, Karen has developed an approach to large installation pieces that incorporates participant engagement in the conception, framing, and realization stages of the project.

She holds a BFA from Northern Arizona University and an MFA from Edinboro University, Pennsylvania. Karen has taught at Austin Community College for over ten years as well as at Texas State University.
