The Austin Waldorf School Provides

students with new perspectives, unique experiences, and innovative ways of thinking. The high school curriculum encourages students to be critical, independent, and imaginative while developing the capacity to think outside of the box. Waldorf also offers students a wide variety of extracurricular activities and clubs, including soccer, volleyball, swimming, the International Cooking Club, and the Social Justice Club. The traditions and festivals at the school, which include Michaelmas, May Pole, High School Campout, and the International Exchange Program, help to strengthen a sense of community. Michaelmas is a whole school event where the students perform a song and skit that represents overcoming fears and rising above life’s challenges. May Pole is a celebration of spring where the first through seventh grades perform dances and songs. Campout is an annual event where the entire high school camps for two nights at a beautiful local farm. Students eat, sing by the campfire, participate in team-building activities and create a deeper connection with classmates and teachers free of distractions. The Exchange Program allows students to have an immersive experience, gain newfound independence, and develop an appreciation for diverse cultures. The Waldorf experience forms a lasting community and creates a supportive environment that encourages growth, development, and the capacity to embrace an ever-changing world.

The Austin Waldorf School is proud to offer a foreign exchange to its students as part of the High School World Languages program. Certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through SEVIS or the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, this exciting opportunity allows students the chance to experience living in another country while expanding their knowledge of another language outside of the classroom. Learners are paired with a counterpart in another country based on their respective language, either German or Spanish. This exciting program has allowed our German language students to study abroad in Freiburg, Darmstadt, Stuttgart, and Bern. Our Spanish language students have had the opportunity to study at Waldorf high schools in Spain, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

“I cannot express how wonderful it has been to see my brother experience a Waldorf education. Traditional schooling methods did not meet the way his mind works. His intellect and creativity were not nurtured or appreciated. He has flourished at Austin Waldorf.”
