Jackie Howard

Jackie has served as a bilingual teacher and instructional coach at the highest needs schools in the Austin area for the past 12 years. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at Kalamazoo College in Michigan and also holds a Master’s Degree in Spanish Language and Culture from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain as well as her principal’s certificate for the state of Texas through Lamar University. Jackie is also an Austin Waldorf School graduate from the class of 2004. Half Colombian and a world traveller, she also studied abroad during her sophomore year at the Waldorf High School in Lima, Peru.

In her free time, Jackie is particularly drawn to pushing her physical and emotional limits and has spent five months thru hiking the Appalachian Trail and subsequently the Colorado Trail. She has coached runners (from 5k to 50 miles), holds a plant based nutrition certificate from eCornell and has practiced nutrition coaching, as well as worked for a professional athlete in his run across the USA in 75 days and other endeavors.

She is an ultramarathon runner and has also dabbled in competitive cycling and likes to spend time learning how to sport climb at the local crags. Writing, cooking, gardening, and swimming are other passions of Jackie’s. Jackie is excited to begin a new chapter of her life as she joins the Austin Waldorf High School as a humanities and student support teacher.
