Meet the Camp Roadrunner Staff

By Alex Abbott, Auxiliary Revenues Coordinator

This year at Camp Roadrunner we are extremely excited to have 3 alumni working with the children! Our Woodpecker group, the rising 1st graders, will be lead by Caroline Williamson and Michelle Rossi. Caroline, a Waldorf ‘lifer’, graduated from AWS in 2013. Since graduating she has enjoyed working with children in many different settings. Caroline is excited to bring her many skills and passion to her first summer as a Camp Roadrunner counselor! Michelle is completing her Masters of Education at the University of Texas. Michelle has taught in a variety of settings and is very enthusiastic about Waldorf education.

The Mockingbirds, rising 2nd and 3rd graders, are lucky to have Alexander Ravet and Lindsay Loftin leading their group. Alexander graduated from AWS in 2016 and is currently studying visual arts at Centre College. We have been so fortunate to have him working at camp the past two summers and the kids just love him. Lindsay Loftin has been working with children and creating environmental education programs since 2015. She has friends in our community and can’t wait to be a part of our summer experience.

The rising 4th – 7th graders, better known as the Sequoias, will be lead by Jessica Lenz and Elizabeth Lawhon. Jessica attended AWS from kindergarten to 8th grade and is currently attending Austin Community College. Jessica was a huge help in every aspect of camp last year and is a familiar face in our aftercare program. Elizabeth is traveling from Alabama to join us this summer. A recent Auburn graduate, she has worked in a variety of camps throughout her college experience and is an avid photographer. If you are looking for a camp for your rising 4th-7th grader, check us out! We still have space in 5 of the 8 weeks for this group.

Teachers this year in Camp Roadrunner include Shir Shoham, Erik Olson, Julie Vogel, Charlie Cross, Michelle Lemberger, and Steffani Mitchell. You may also remember Lauren Barr, Starr Taylor, and Jada D’Angelo from past years; we are thrilled that they are returning this summer as they have for the last 8 years.

“I enjoy the Austin Waldorf School events: the plays, the concerts, the fairs, and other special days. Grandparents Day is wonderful for getting acquainted with other grandparents and special friends, the seniors, as well as the classrooms.”
