Pat DeVincent

Clay Arts

Ms. DeVincent holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies and Communications from West Virginia University and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Texas. For over twenty years, she taught E.S.L. at both the high school level in Austin and at the college level at Drexel University and at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon retiring from language teaching, she took up the study of wheel thrown and hand built pottery.

As she begins her eleventh year of instruction at the Austin Waldorf School, Ms. DeVincent continues to develop her artistic skills with ongoing master classes. In addition to teaching the high school pottery blocks, Patricia conducts special clay projects in the lower grades as well as private classes in her own Cracked Earth Studio where she produces very unique and organic pottery.

She and her husband, Charlie, saw daughters Jessica (’09) and Katie (’14) graduate after each passed from kindergarten through high school at AWS.  When not playing in the “mud”, you can find her traveling solo across the continent or vintage racing on one of her many motorcycles.

“One of the things we are so grateful for is the opportunity our daughter has had with regards to varsity sports at Waldorf. Basketball has provided her an opportunity to be a leader and the chance to learn from a supportive and committed mentor. The benefits will serve her in a myriad of ways throughout her life that she cannot now imagine.”
